Biodiversity

Being part of one of the most popular and best school of the valley is really a great pleasure from me and in fact for other students. Daily we  learn something new from this school and participate in different types of activities promoted by LMS. LMS give me a chance to go for essay writing in the district level at boys school so here I would like to share my essay with all of you through which I came first in the essay writing competition and credit for this goes to LMS.
                                   “Biodiversity”
◾️Biodiversity refers to the variety of plants and animals life in the world or in a particular Habitat a high level of which is usually considered to be important and desirable. Our earth consists of 5 to 10 billion of plants and animal species which have been the result of 3 billion years of natural processes like mutation.
◾️ Its components:
The word “biodiversity” was first coined by W.G. Rosen. Biodiversity is not distributed evenly on earth and is richest in the tropics. In short biodiversity can be defined as the variability among living organisms from all sources including terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems. Biodiversity is said to have three hierarchical levels which are:
1. Genetic diversity - diversity within genes of species
2. Species diversity - diversity between species
3. Ecosystem biodiversity - diversity between eco-systems
These hierarchical levels help in the formation of biodiversity.
◾️Why biodiversity is important?
Biodiversity boost ecosystem productivity where each species no matter how small or big, have an important role to play. A large number of plant species means a greater variety of crops. Great species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms
◾️How our biodiversity is getting depleted?
It is said that biodiversity generally tends to cluster in hot spots and has been increasing through time but will be likely to slow in future. Rapid environmental changes typically cause mass extinctions but the main reason for depletion of our biodiversity is human intervention. For example humans are constructing four lanes, famctories, industries and clearing of forests which is resulting in the depletion of our biodiversity. Loss of biodiversity means loss of life and therefore we need to take great care and precautions to save our biodiversity.
◾️How can we conserve our bio diversity?
As mentioned earlier that are bio Diversity is getting depleted or decreasing and therefore we need to conserve it, so here are some precautions that we can take up to save or biodiversity:
1. Planting more and more trees
2. Maintaining wetlands by reducing irrigation
3. By conserving water
4. By consuming less and wasting less
◾️Conclusion:
Therefore we need to save our biodiversity to save our life. At last we can say that:
“biodiversity is a way to don't let nature go astray”
